Selling Your Textbooks
What is the difference between Penntext and my campus bookstore?
Many campus bookstores will tell you that they buy books back at 50% of what you paid for them, but what they don't tell you is that it is limited to a small number of titles with a fixed quantity per title. This means that they will only buy a few copies of certain books that they know they will be selling next semester. Unfortunately many professors do not turn in the list of books they'll be using until weeks after buyback, meaning that the bookstore's list of books they need is usually very limited. What is a Retail Book List? There may be some books that your on-campus bookstore will buy back at 50% of the retail price to fill their shelves. These "retail buyback" books are bought in limited quantities and if you want to get top dollar for them, you have to sell your books early.
